The British National Party is fielding 112 candidates in the General
Election. Two of these are standing for BNP Scotland in Glasgow.

BNP Vice-Chairman and Scottish Regional Organiser Scott McLean is contesting
the Glasgow North East seat, and Glasgow Organiser Walter Hamilton is
fighting the Glasgow Central seat.

Scott McLean

Scott is 35 years old and a family man with three children. A native of
Glasgow and a well-established and respected local businessman for the past
ten years, Scott knows and cares passionately about the city and its people.

Scott is standing in this election to give local people a voice following
years of neglect by Labour. He promises to work tirelessly to push local
people to the top of the housing, health and education lists above newcomers
and to push the Police in combating drug related and violent crime that
blights the constituency.

Scott says "As a father of three I feel strongly that Glasgow children
should have a sound education and long term employment opportunities when
they finish. I also want our old folk to feel safe in the streets again and
get a pension they can live on!"

Walter Hamilton

Walter 'Hammy' Hamilton is 43 years old and lives locally. He is a family
man with three daughters one of whom served in Iraq recently and is a
well-known and respected local businessman who has worked in the Kinning
Park/Govan area for over ten years.

Hammy has spent time in the Military and having recovered from an aneurysm
has put that discipline into building his business and raising funs for
various charities including a recent sponsored walk for autistic Scottish
kids.

Hammy joined the BNP because he was sick of how local people were being
neglected by Labour, and he is standing in this election to give local
people a voice. Hammy will fight to put local people first and to combat the
rising tide of crime, especially drug abuse, under age drinking, and other
anti-social behaviour, making the streets safe again for young and old!

Over 7 million BNP election communications are due to be delivered by the
Royal Mail in the days to come across the UK, and several different party
political broadcasts are due to be broadcast on all five terrestrial
television channels and Sky as well as on BBC Radio including BBC Radio
Scotland.

In Glasgow, BNP membership has rocketed thanks to the hard work of Hammy and
his dedicated team and local support has been gathering over the past 18
months. Scott and Walter aim to offer a real alternative to the usual
suspects and all the indications are there for the BNP to record its
highest-ever vote for a constituency seat in Scotland.

Campaign topics

The Glasgow campaign centres on three main issues:

Press the police to get tough on crime and anti-social behaviour and seek
justice for Kriss Donald with the prosecution of the remaining three accused

Stop Glasgow being the biggest dumping ground for asylum seekers in the UK.
Where the BNP has elected officials like Burnley, the Government have
stopped sending asylum seekers.

Put local people to the top of the list in housing, education and health
above newcomers.

If you can lend a hand with the campaign and ensure the BNP gets its best
ever vote in Scotland please contact one of the following:
Hammy on 07742 044555 or ***@yahoo.co.uk
Margaret on 08707 515277 or ***@bnp.org.uk
Kenny on 01463 793298 or ***@bnp.org.uk

There are campaign activities scheduled every Saturday and Sunday. Weekday
activities are mainly for the evenings but volunteers are required to help
out during the day especially during the final week of the campaign.

If you truly care about the future of our people and nation do not waste
this opportunity to do something constructive and change things for the
better. Glasgow BNP would welcome assistance from members and supporters
from all over Scotland.

"They like to pretend the coming elections are a fight between several
parties of the British people ... NOTHING OF THE KIND! Merely a fight betwen
two, maybe three big money combines, that and nothing else! ... And when
they speak of 'democracy' they don't mean democracy by the people or for the
people, they mean FINANCIAL democracy in which money counts, and nothing but
money!"

snip BNP's own take on the situation in Glasgow.

One of their candidates is standing in Glasgow Central where the sitting
labour MP is Mohammad Sawar. It'll be interesting to see how the various
fringe party candidates fare. They include the Communist Party of
Britain, Operation Christian Vote and the Socialist Labour Party, as
well as the BNP. The other is Glasgow North East, the seat currently
represented by Michael Martin, the Speaker of the House of Commons. The
tradition of not contesting this seat is being continued by the
Conservatives and LibDems, but clearly the BNP don't have that kind of
respect for tradition, as indeed don't the SNP. Oh well, they'll be
scrapping for the crumbs along with the Scottish Socialist Party, the
Scottish Unionist Party, and the Socialist Labour Party as well as an
Independent.

Well done the BNP for choosing two seats where there can be a direct
comparison between their support and that given to other fringe parties.
It will be an interesting test of their support!

HEADLINE: Ballot-rigging claims muddy Govan fight; Labour candidate denies fraud, writes Stephen Goodwin

BYLINE: Stephen Goodwin

BODY:
The studied calm displayed by Mohammed Sawar, the Labour candidate, as the poison has flowed in Glasgow's faction-ridden Govan constituency this last year is starting to desert him after suggestions that he and his supporters have tried to rig the ballot.

"My hands are clean," Mr Sawar insisted at the weekend as Strathclyde police continued investigations into the extraordinary number of late entries to Govan's electoral roll.

Out of 484 last-minute applications across Glasgow's nine constituencies, 279 came from Govan where Mr Sawar, a self-made millionaire, is facing not only a by-election style challenge from the Scottish National Party but candidates with personal axes to grind.

William Johnston, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) called in the police last week after disallowing seven Govan applications. Since then it has emerged that 200 of the new voters are Asians in Pollokshields East, the ward represented by Mr Sawar on Glasgow city council.

Perhaps for the sake of balance (after all you wouldn't want to be
thought biassed, would you?), you should also publish the result of the
police investigation and subsequent trial.

"Well-established and respected"?

phrase?
